About the Department:
The Department of Physics was established in the year 1963 with undergraduate programme. Â The Post Graduate Programme started in the year 1972.
The courses covered by the department include B.Sc., B.Sc. Computer Science, and M.Sc. in Physics with specialization in Electronics with the syllabus prescribed by Vikram University, Ujjain.
The faculty members attend Academic programmes such as orientation and refresher courses held at academic staff colleges of different universities all over the nation. The staff members also work as resource persons in various academic activities. The department has its own library that caters to the academic needs of the students. Teachers also help in counselling of the students. The staff is research oriented and organizes group discussions and seminars for the benefit of the students.
Since the inception of the postgraduate classes in 1972, the department has been resuming the tradition of sincere and quality teaching and progressive excellence in research work. Papers in diverse areas like Luminescence, Plasma Physics, X – Ray Spectroscopy, Materials Science, Nuclear Physics, Nano-materials and Heat Transfer have been published from the department.
The department has a well-equipped laboratory with equipment for General and Nuclear Physics. The department has computer facility and a well-established workshop for maintenance of electronics and other apparatus. The department has conducted research conferences, seminars and workshops for encouraging research work among students and teachers alike. Educational and industrial tours have been organized every academic year for the students to visualize the dimensions of the subject more intensely.
The subject of physics is vital for the scientific development that the world is witnessing and our department helps the students to prepare themselves for various researches in the field of Space, electronics, medicine, Academics, Â Acoustic consultancy, Â Astronomy, Â Clinical scientist and many more respective to the subject. There are ample job opportunities available for the students of physics.
