NCC
The National Cadet Corps has its genesis in the “ University corps” which was created under Indian Defense Act, 1917 to make up the shortage of the Army.
In 1920, when the Indian territory Act was passed, the university Corps was replaced by University Training Corps (UTS).
In 1942, the University Training Corps was renamed as the University officers Training Corps (UOTC).
2 MP Armd Sqn. NCC was raised in July 62 ( 12.07.1962) Maj. Sr. Mohan Commanded the Sqn. From 14 Sep.62 to 22 Sep. 71. The Sqn. Was located in the hosted of GACC Indore. Initially has been shifted in Holkar Science College Indore on 8 Dec.1976.
A committee headed by Pandit H.N. Kunzru recommended a cadet organization to be established in schools and colleges at a national level. The National Cadet Corps Act was accepted by the Governor General and on 15 July 1948 the National Cadet Corps came into existence.
In 1949, the Girls Division was raised in order to give equal opportunities to school and college going girls. The NCC was given an inter-service image in 1950 when the Air Wing was added, followed by the Naval Wing in 1952. Same year, the NCC curriculum was extended to include community development/social service activities.
AIM OF NCC
- To develop good qualities like good character, commandership, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsman spirit, and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country.
- To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivate youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation.
- To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces like Army, Navy, Air Force and other paramilitary forces.

“UNITY AND DISCIPLINE”
- The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline” which was adopted on 23 Des.1957. In living up to its motto, the NCC strive to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
NCC PLEDGE
- We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of India. We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation. We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.
- The youth of the nation learns about various aspects of military life through their exposure to organizations that provide a window to the army of the country. NCC is one such platform that is being operational in the college for the last three- four decades. The students in their first year of the college from both science as well as arts stream can join the NCC. The organization enrolls a student (cadet henceforward) for three years extendable to four under special circumstances. The cadets are offered to participate in weekly parades where they learn drill, turnout and periodical lectures on various military topics such as Weapon Training, Firing, Field Craft, Battle Craft, First Aid, Social Service, Military History etc.
- The cadets are allowed to take their first examination after the completion of two years of training. This test is called “B” Certificate Examination held at the Battalion Headquarters conducted by a board appointed by the Group Headquarters comprising of two Commanding Officers from other Battalions who evaluate the cadets for their drill and other military requirements. The cadets also undergo a written test before coming to the board for the final interview.
- The final year cadets take their “C” Certificate Examination held at Group Headquarters, Indore conducted by a board headed by the Group Commander and two Commanding Officers. Here too the cadets undergo a written examination before they are placed before the board for their final interview. The cadets in possession of a “C” Certificate with minimum B Grade enjoy certain privileges in their career and educational programs. They have a direct entry to SSB interview without undertaking the written examination. A complete training of the NCC allows a cadet an overall development of his/her personality that helps them in all walks of life. Many cadets join Indian Army at various levels beginning from a soldier or tradesmen in various branches of the army to the rank of commissioned officer.
