Department of History
The Department of History was established in the year 1956. It has both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (1963) available for the students. Department has been a research centre also.
The department has its own very rich valuable library for P.G. students. The department has been served by eminent Professors like Dr. Shyam Sundar Nigam, Dr. K.S. Joshi and Dr. Sharad Pagare.
Here History is taught in all its aspects of Ancient, Medieval, Modern and World History group. Students are taken on Educational tours to learn from the places of historical importance. Apart from these excursions learning by project works, discussions, exhibitions, expert lectures and celebrations of national and international days have been vital parts of innovative learning system of our department.
There are various job opportunities and work prospects are available for the PG students beyond the campus such as administrative services, teachings at different levels, archaeological research projects and research work as PhD.
The department continues to enhance the quality of the teaching-learning ambiance with NEP2020 to contribute in the constructive future of individuals and their respective society.
