Department of Physical Education and Sports
The facility of sports has been an important provision right from the beginning of the institution promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship. The Sports department boasts a comprehensive range of both outdoor and indoor facilities, catering to a diverse array of sports interests among students.
- The Department introduces bachelor of Physical education and sports (BPES) graduate course from the academic year 2024-25.
- Variuos MoUs have been Signed between the department of Physical Education and sports, Government Arts and Science College, Ratlam and Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Ratlam; with Ashutosh cricket club, Ratlam and with Kailash Nath Katju, Law College, Ratlam in order to promote sports activities.
- Training is also provided by specialist coaches from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department under the MoU at the college sports grounds, where athletes are trained in athletics, football, hockey, basketball, and physical fitness for recruitment in the army.
- The department has been playing an active part in organizing many Inter-Collegiate, Inter-District, Inter-Division and Open Tournaments in the field of sports and games.
- Every year, around 20 players represent Vikram University in west zone and All India inter university competitions from the college.
- Every year, more than 200 players from the college participate in 22 to 25 sports competitions.
- Over the past two years, the college’s cricket (men’s and women’s), Kabaddi (men’s and women’s), Badminton (men’s and women’s), Table Tennis (women’s), Chess (men’s), and football (men’s) teams have secured champions’ position at the district level. Additionally, at the divisional level competitions, teams from Ratlam district, including the Chess (men’s), Kho-kho (men’s and women’s), Badminton (women’s), and Table Tennis (women’s and men’s), have emerged victorious, with significant contributions of the students in field of sports.

Facilities:
The outdoor facilities include well-maintained grounds and courts for Football, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Handball, Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Basketball, alongside a 400-meter athletics track. Complementing these is an outdoor open gym, equipped with modern fitness apparatus, ensuring a well-rounded physical training environment.
Indoors, the department features a dedicated space for boxing, Judo, Karate, Chess, Wrestling, and Yoga, Badminton as well as a specially designed Table Tennis room. Each of these areas is equipped with specialized gear, fostering an environment conducive to both competitive and recreational play.
Objectives of the BPES course –
- To prepare highly qualified teachers in the field of Physical Education and Sports.
- To promote mass participation in Physical Education and Sports.
- To produce competent health conscious Physical Education teachers at various levels, who will be fully equipped to impart instruction in Physical Education and undertake physical activity programmes for children and youth.
- To closely collaborate and coordinate with the State and National bodies in Physical Education and Sports, in matters of common interest and concern.
- To actively design programme for the promotion and development of fitness and health concept among the students, faculty and the community around so as to mould them into physically fit and emotionally matured citizens.

Future Plan
- To Introduce Post Graduate program in Physical education(M.P.E.S).
- To Introduce a Two year Diploma course in Yoga.
- Department will plan a Health Awareness Summer Coaching Camp for all age category which aims to promote the health awareness among people.
