Department of Economics
The Department of Economics as a part of Govt. Arts and Science College, Ratlam, came into existence in 1956.
The subject was first offered in B.A. Then from 1962 onwards M.A. in Economics was offered to the students.
Economics as a social science of economy includes studies of volatile human behavior regarding the economic changes of the local and global scenario. Customary to all disciplines, it has its unique concepts and way of thinking. The department provides its students with the learning of updated knowledge enabling them to fit in the various job profiles.
In previous years many students have got merit positions the University and have also been selected as Assistant Professors in various Govt. Colleges. Under the guidance of faculty members students got first position in RBI Policy of Madhya Pradesh challenge competition.
Many National dignitaries like Dr. M. L. Chhipa, Former vice-chancellor ABVHVV Bhopal and MDS University Ajmer, Dr. C. S. Barla, Former Consultant, World Bank and professor of Economics UOR Jaipur, Dr. Satish Batra, motivational speaker and professor of development Economics, UOR Jaipur, Dr. Manish Sharma Professor, IEHE Bhopal have been the dignitaries of the department in last five years.
