Department of Microbiology 

Department of Microbiology was established in the year 2002 offering graduation. In the year 2010, Post Graduate programme was also started. The Department offers courses on general microbiology, microbial diversity, agricultural microbiology, environmental microbiology, industrial microbiology, food microbiology, immunology, medical microbiology, microbial genetics, fermentation technology and plant pathology.

The Department provides ample scope to students and faculties for academics and research. The department has well-equipped modern laboratories to provide quality teaching and research opportunities for students. The Department has facilities like UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Laminar Air flow chamber, Cooling Centrifuge, Autoclave, Light microscope, Water Bath, Incubator, BOD Incubator, Hot Air Oven, Refrigerator, pH meter, , Weighing balance, Magnetic stirrer, and Gel electrophoresis apparatus etc.

Under NEP 2020, Vocational courses have been introduced in higher education. Department of Microbiology conducts ‘Medical Diagnostics’ course since then. In addition to regular courses, “Laboratory Techniques in Biological Sciences” course is also conducted by Dept. of Microbiology to make students learn the basic practices and instrumentation.

The department also maintains the library facility in the form of Reference books. Standard reference books of national and International publications in the areas of microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics and bioinformatics are available in the department.
