Department of Botany
Department of Botany was established in 1965.
The department presents UG and PG programmes with specialization in Ethno botany and applied Mycology.
The Department has well equipped laboratory with modern instruments. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, slides, models, herbarium to help the students in informal learning.
Department of Botany has Botanical Gardens with various medicinal plants for practical and informal self-learning. The Botanical excursions are regularly organized to study the wild plant diversity and forest ecosystem. Faculty members of the Department are highly qualified and experienced. A short term certificate course on “Laboratory Technique” is also conducted by the department. Every year department organizes different activities like webinars, seminars, workshops and tree plantation drives etc.
The department continues to provide modern, skill oriented and quality education to the students for contributing further in the social development. To offer wide and relevant education to the students with a view of shaping their scientific temperament and environmental awareness and to uplift the students capable of facing challenges in life efficiently and carve their own future, to introduce students to modern ideas and thoughts for sustaining in global world remain the chief aim of the department.
